About us

“Man, I really want to go cycling to Africa”. That’s how all pretty much started.

After having studied in ETH Zurich, kicked-off our respective entrepreneurial projects, and enjoyed heavily the Zurich nightlife and the Swiss mountains, we were feeling in the need of something new.

Random night in Zurich. Probably started thinking about the trip then

The chance of having time for a relative big break in our start-up lives appeared and Javi wanted to cycle to Africa already for a long time. Initially, he was going to go with our great friend Javi Pelos (yep, same name, different person, and to make it more complex the business partner of the Javi in this story), but life is messy, things and jobs pop out and could not make it. Gaspard, friend of both, heard about that trip, and after thinking approximately 0.2 miliseconds about it – and trying to change the destination several times -, decided to join.

Getting into details, Gaspard is a 27 years old half Parisian half Lebanese with a tendency to chaos except for cooking, where he is pretty much a boss. A very representative fact of him would be that he learnt how to speak Spanish in Stockholm. And it’s true.

Javi is a 26 years old Basque, proud to have 1,39% of Canary Islands roots, and who can barely cook a tortilla without burning it. He loves climbing, mountains and has a great survival instinct, capable of climbing during 20 hours (as well as hitting himself in the face with his own piolet). And it’s true.

Gaspard and Javi are friends. You are probably suspecting that they have written the description of each other. And it’s true.

Gaspard and Javi are friends. And they like (absurd) challenges. Gaspard proposed Javi to try to learn German during the trip, as he has a job-interview in German as we will be going through the Sahara. This, we will let you know if it becomes true ;-).

Javi convinced Gaspard to go cycling. Or was it the other way around? Doesn’t matter. The thing is that we are going. And it’s gonna be fun.
